Intracardiac Echo

Intracardiac Echo

An intracardiac echo, or ICE, inserts a small catheter and an ultrasound sensor into a blood vessel. The catheter and sensor are then passed into the heart and used to gather images of the heart’s internal structure. This method tends to be used to provide devices or balloons guidance when they are placed in the heart.
